Detailed Preparation Method: Crunchy Mix of Nuts and Dried Fruits
Ingredients:
- Oilseeds:
- 1 cup roasted, salted almonds (try flaked almonds for an extra crunch!)
- 1/2 cup roasted, salted nuts (pecans or cashews would be great substitutes!)
- 1/2 cup roasted and salted Brazil nuts (Brazil nuts are also a delicious option!)
- Dried fruits:
- 1/4 cup chopped dried apricots (dried prunes or dates can add an irresistible sweet and sour touch!)
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries (raisins or dried cherries also work great!)
- 1/4 cup goji berries (fresh cranberries or blueberries can be used for a colorful pop!)
- Superfoods:
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds (flax or sesame seeds can provide even more nutrients!)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a natural sweet touch)
Utensils:
- large container
- Spatula or spoon
- Cutting board (optional, if you are chopping the dried fruit by hand)
- Knife (optional, if you are going to chop the dried fruit by hand)
Preparation:
- Prepare the ingredients:
- Make sure your almonds, walnuts, and Brazil nuts are toasted and salted. If you prefer, toast them at home in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and crispy.
- Chop the dried fruit into smaller pieces if necessary. You can use a sharp knife or kitchen scissors to do this.
- Measure out the chia seeds and honey (if using).
- Mix the oilseeds:
- In a large bowl, place the roasted and salted almonds, roasted and salted walnuts and roasted and salted Brazil nuts.
- Mix the ingredients well with a spatula or spoon, making sure they are evenly distributed.
- Add the dried fruits:
- Add the chopped dried fruits to the bowl with the nuts: dried apricots, dried cranberries and goji berries.
- Mix gently with a spatula or spoon, incorporating the dried fruit into the oilseed mixture.
- Add the superfoods:
- Sprinkle the chia seeds over the nut and dried fruit mixture.
- If you want a natural sweet touch, add 1 tablespoon of honey and mix well.
- Finalize and store:
- Make sure all ingredients are well mixed and evenly distributed.
- Transfer the crunchy mix of nuts and dried fruit to an airtight container (such as a glass jar or a zip-lock bag).
- Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. The mix can be stored for up to 2 weeks, as long as it is tightly closed.
