🚫 Common Mistakes
- Use orange with bitter peel: use only the aromatic part of the bark.
- Over-mixing the dough: This can make the cake heavy.
- Baking in a very hot oven: respect the time and temperature to avoid drying out.
- Overdoing the drops: balance is everything. Too much chocolate can overwhelm the dough.
🧊 Storage
- ❄️ Refrigerator: up to 5 days in a closed jar.
- 🧊 Freezing: separate slices for up to 2 months.
🧡 Recipe History
This recipe came from my longing for an orange cake my grandmother used to make. But I wanted to update that classic with the touch of my current routine: functional, refined, full of nourishing ingredients and, of course, with a dose of love. The drops of flavor came about as a whim — and ended up becoming the big difference!
