Ingredients

  • 500g ground beef (rump, sirloin or rump)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons oat bran
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • Lettuce leaves for serving
  • Side dishes of your choice (tomato, red onion, bacon, avocado, low carb mayonnaise)

Preparation Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef, egg, oat bran, chopped onion, chopped garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper and smoked paprika. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each into a burger.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Grill the burgers for about 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked to your desired doneness.
  4. In the last 30 seconds of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each burger. Cover the pan and let the cheese melt.
  5. To assemble the burger, place a lettuce leaf on a plate. Top the burger with melted cheese and finish with your favorite toppings.
